Adult Use Cannabis Program
The Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act provides for the controlled legalization of adult use cannabis in Illinois beginning January 1, 2020. The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation is charged under the act with implementing and administrating multiple aspects of the program, including the licensing and oversight of dispensing organizations, dispensary agents, and agent education providers. This page contains general information for the public and potential licensees about the program’s administrative requirements and deadlines and frequently asked questions. This page will be regularly updated as new stages of the program are put into place in accordance with the timelines established by the legislation.
Loan Applications Now Available for Licensed Social Equity Cannabis Dispensaries
The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) has made available $12 million through direct forgivable loans for social equity cannabis dispensaries. Loans up to $240,000 will be provided based on social equity status, financial need, and progress toward becoming operational. Please note, these loans are only available for social equity Adult Use Dispensing organizations who were issued a Conditional Adult-Use Dispensary License (284.XXXXX-CL) or Adult-Use Dispensary License (284.XXXXXX-AUDO) prior to calendar year 2023 from IDFPR.
