Selecting a Financial Institution*
Carefully select a financial
institution by comparing the terms and prices of all of the services you
need.
- Shop around. Do not do business
with the first institution that seems willing to do business with you.
- Compare service charges,
fees, hours of operation, location, grace periods, and other services
(such as ATM card availability, overdraft protection, safe deposit box
services, trust department availability, etc.) before selecting an institution.
- Check the front door to
see if the institution displays a government logo indicating that it
is federally insured. A copy of the logo is shown below. Generally,
if the institution is federally insured, an individual is insured for
up to $100,000 in deposits.
